A WORKING APPROACH TO PAYER-TO-PAYER PROVISION IN CMS-0057-F

Exchanging data between healthcare payers is often difficult and burdensome, largely due to disparate software systems, non-standard data formats, and patient consent challenges. This inability to effectively share information can negatively impact patient care and increase administrative burdens.

 

CMS is working to eliminate these issues with the release of the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F). One of the provisions of CMS-0057-F requires payers to implement and maintain a payer-to-payer application programming interface (API) to simplify data exchange.

 

In this WEDI presentation, Edifecs Product Manager Artem Sopin details a solution to support the Payer-to-Payer FHIR API provision of CMS-0057-F and support a more streamlined exchange of patient data between payers.
